So you want to do a boudoir shoot? Where do you start?
The starting point at Fancy Little Knickers is to establish why you want you want to shoot boudoir. It is your shoot, and we want you to be completely comfortable with what we are shooting with you.
We need to define what a boudoir shoot is.
A boudoir shoot is a style of photography associated with romantic, sexy, sensual, possibly even erotic photography. It is not pornographic. It is intended primarily for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of anyone with whom you choose to share the images. You could be partially undressed, for example, in a man’s shirt, or some sports clothing. You could be wearing revealing lingerie. You could be topless. An implied nude photo is taken where you have something covering a more intimate part of your body, for example a sheet pulled over your breasts, but suggesting that otherwise you are naked. Or you could be naked. A great deal of care has to go into naked shots to prevent the shot falling out of the boudoir category.
We set your limits before we shoot, so that you are completely comfortable with what we are going to shoot.
Why do you want to shoot boudoir?
A gift for your partner
This is one of the most common reasons for shooting boudoir. Perhaps you want to give him a little treat before you get married or as a Valentine’s gift. You want him to see you at your best, your most sexy. Imagine his eyes when he starts to unwrap that photo book, and turns the first page!
Perhaps things have got a little dull in the bedroom department? So, a boudoir shoot, you in the best lingerie that we can find, this could be the perfect way to remind you both of how things were when you first met.
A gift to you from you
A boudoir shoot could be more personal, something for you from you. Maybe you just feel curious, and what to explore. Perhaps you feel a little self conscious about your body. But why should this experience be limited to the young and beautiful. You are beautiful and sexy too, and together we can find and reveal that side of you. This shoot could be a celebration of you, of how you feel about yourself. No one need seen the results of our boudoir shoot, you could show them just to close friends. It is your choice.
Liberation
A boudoir shoot can be very liberating. Quite often while you are shooting, you will feel some of the limitations and restrictions you place on yourself just fall away. You may want to go a little further than the pre-agreed limits that we have discussed. That’s fine, we will just go with the flow.
Once we have decided what we are going to be shooting, we need to consider the styling and content of the shoot. We like to develop a little story into the shoot. Why are you at this place, who are you meeting? It helps to give the photos a little meaning and the shoot some structure. This is fantasy, so it’s perfectly OK to imagine that you slipped George Clooney a note with your room number on it. Do you like old style Hollywood glamour, or something more modern. Do you prefer soft light and soft focus? Your shoot, you decide.
Although the shoot is shot in colour, we can of course convert any of the images into black & white or apply other effects. B & W works very well with some style of boudoir shoots.
